Casablanca Desert Tour Itinerary

Day-by-day plan of this private desert tour from Casablanca to Marrakech, over 8 days.

Day 1 · Casablanca, Rabat

Your driver picks you up at your hotel, at the airport or at the train station in Casablanca, the economic capital of Morocco. We start with the Hassan II mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world, on the edge of the Atlantic. Then we visit the Habous quarter and market and drive along the Corniche, with a stop for a seafood lunch. In the afternoon we drive to Rabat to see the Hassan Tower and the Kasbah of the Udayas before you check into your riad in the medina, where a traditional dinner is served.

After breakfast we visit Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Then we head for Fes by way of Meknes, the imperial city of Moulay Ismail, where you see the Bab Mansour gate, the Sahrij Souani basin and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. After lunch we visit the Roman city of Volubilis, with its well preserved buildings, Roman road and street plan. On the way through the countryside we stop for photos of the holy town of Moulay Idriss. We reach Fes in the evening for dinner and the night in your riad.

After breakfast we start a day with a guide in Fes, a city with its own smells, colours and atmosphere. We begin at the seven gates of the Royal Palace, made of brass, zellige tiles and mosaic, then visit the old Jewish quarter and the Jnan Sbil garden. In the old medina we see the Chouara tannery, the largest in Fes, where workers dye the leather with natural colours for the craftsmen of the medina, and the Qarawiyyin, the Bou Inania medersa and the Attarine medersa, built by Sultan Uthman II Abu Said.

We leave Fes for Erfoud and cross the Middle Atlas, with its mountains and cold rivers. We stop in Imouzzer, in Ifrane, the little Switzerland of Morocco, and in Azrou to walk in the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaques. Then we continue to Midelt, a small town known for its minerals, and on to Erfoud, where you rest in a kasbah hotel.

After breakfast we drive along the edge of Erg Chebbi, the largest dunes in Morocco, where nomads still live in black tents. We visit a nomad family for tea and to see how they live, then the village of Khamlia, where life has changed little over the centuries. You can have lunch in Khamlia or back at the hotel. After a rest you ride a camel into the high dunes of Merzouga for the sunset, and spend the night in a Berber tented camp under the stars.

When you wake up, your camel guide takes you on a ride through the dunes for the sunrise. Back at the hotel you have breakfast, then we leave for Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, the narrowest and most dramatic gorge in Morocco, before arriving in the Dades Valley for dinner and the night in your hotel.

After breakfast we drive across the Dades Valley towards Kelaat M’Gouna and Ouarzazate, passing many kasbahs and stopping for photos. You can meet a nomad family living in caves, then see the Valley of Roses and the rock formations along the road. We stop in Kelaat M’Gouna, the rose town, then continue to Skoura and the Valley of the Birds to visit Kasbah Amridil, before driving on to Ouarzazate for the night.

In Ouarzazate, a town founded in 1928 that became one of the main film locations in the world, we visit the historical and natural sites and the film studios where Gladiator, Babel and Game of Thrones were made. Then we stop for lunch in a local restaurant in Telouet, the Berber village, before going down the Tizi n’Tichka pass to Marrakech. We arrive in the late afternoon and drop you off at your hotel or riad.

Morocco highlights

A very enjoyable and hassle-free 10-day private tour covering Asilah, Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, and Essaouira. Thank you to Siu Ha @ Fez Luxury Tour for the perfect arrangements! Our driver, Hafid, moved us between cities safely in a clean and comfortable new van whist sharing fascinating history and culture along the drive. The tour also included local guides who showed us around the Medinas in Fes and Marrakech, successfully leading us through the mazes! Without them, we might have been stuck in there forever. 😅 This was a fantastic taster of Morocco. If I return to Morocco in the future, I will definitely use Fez Luxury Tour service again, using Marrakech as a base, and to include an overnight stay in the Sahara Desert!

Unforgettable trip to Morocco

Just got back from a fantastic 10-day trip starting in Casablanca and hitting all the highlights like the Blue City, Fez, the Sahara, and Marrakech. The Riad and Hotels they arranged for us are also very nice and comfortable. Huge thanks to our amazing driver, Hafid, who made our journey so enjoyable. Hafid was incredibly polite, attentive, and helpful with everything we needed. The Van was always clean and very comfortable for our group of four. We had a brilliant time and would highly recommend this agency and Hafid to anyone planning a trip to Morocco!

It's an excellent arrangement from Casablanca ,Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fez, Sahara desert, Dade valley and then Marrakech. A very comfortable, air- con , new big 7-seated car with a friend- like driver-guide,Ayoub Kara, who explains the local things and culture to us . Desert trip is a good experience with camel ride , Atv bike. there are lots of attraction in between and last stop of desert trip at Stars Hotel in Dade valley with swimming pool is a relaxing experience after desert trip Everything was really well‑organised with a balance of pacing throughout our private-tour trip. The desert luxury camp and Sahara Stars Dade Valley were thoughtfully arranged, and our driver‑guide shared plenty of local insights that helped us learn more about Morocco and its culture. Big thanks also to the travel agent's owner Siu Ha, who was super helpful with all our questions and arrangements, plus her business partner who supported us smoothly behind the scenes.

Enjoyable and wonderful tour

We started our holiday in Seville and took the ferry from Tarifa, Spain to Tangier, Morocco. We found out not many private tours starting from Tangier. Luckily we found that Fes Luxury Tour has that service. We received quick response from the manager. She asked our plan and organized a stress free itinerary for us. Even though we spent a long time on the road, the car is comfortable and the driver was driving carefully on the whole 6 days’ journey. We are very happy for the tour and have no hesitation to recommend their services.

4 days Luxury tour from Fes to Marrakesh

The whole experience was excellent, it was stress free and easy. From booking to pick up, tour and hotels were all excellent. Our driver/guide Ayoub was very helpful and accommodating. He was a very thoughtful and careful driver. He explained things, culture and places of interests to us throughout the trip. He also goes out of his way to help us at the end of our tour when getting to the hotel that I booked myself in Marrakesh . We did have a different guide on the second day of the desert doing the 4x4 expereince and he was also excellent. I highly recommend booking with Fes Luxury tour and using their service. Their cars were very comfortable and clean. It makes life so much easier. The hotel choices were also very good. Thank you for making our trip so much more enjoyable and stress free for us. If it hadn't been with Ayoub, I don't think we would had been able to navigate through the mayhem of the Rissini Sunday Market, it was interesting to see a real local market in action from farm cattles to produce to herbs to Toys, clothes , artesanía and daily white goods. What an eye opener.

12-days private tour in Morocco

Thank you to Siu Ha @ Fez Luxury Tour for the perfect arrangements! We thoroughly enjoyed our 12-days private tour in Morocco. Every attraction was unforgettable, especially riding ATVs and camels, and seeing a sky full of stars in the Sahara Desert. Each Riad and hotel had its own unique charm, and the staff were all extremely friendly. A huge shout-out to our driver, Hafid, his driving skills were exceptional. The seats in the van were clean and very comfortable, making the whole trip enjoyable for all of us. Even though the long-distance drives were lengthy, we didn't feel uncomfortable at all. On the road, various unexpected situations arose, but his high level of skill helped us avoid potential accidents, and his safe driving gave us absolute peace of mind. Although our trip to Morocco has come to an end, we are still reminiscing about the wonderful memories. Highly recommended!
