Following the itinerary you\nwill reach a multitude of cities, some better known for most people and others\nless, which allows you to discover exotic paradises and the way of life of the\nBerber people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are Kasbahs ?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Kasbahs may sound like a strange and\nlittle known concept but it is not at all like that. In fact, in Spain you can\nfind some examples of this type of construction that are still preserved today.\nThe clearest example is, without a doubt, the Alcazaba de M\u00e1laga, but there are\nothers in Almer\u00eda, Granada or M\u00e9rida, for example. In short, it is a fortified\nconstruction, that is, an urban strength that served as the residence of the\ngovernor of a certain region and also served to defend the place. Therefore,\ninside it used to house a small military neighborhood that constituted a\ncitadel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Route of the Thousand Kasbahs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fezluxurytours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Ben-Haddou.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-179\" width=\"385\" height=\"223\"\/><figcaption>Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Route of the Thousand Kasbahs has its\nstarting point in the city of Ouarzazate, which will also serves to put an end\nto visits to these Berber art monuments built in adobe and decorated with\ngeometric motifs. In Ouarzazate is located the Kasbah of Taourirt and only\nabout 30km northwest is the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, declared a World Heritage\nSite by UNESCO in 1987 and should not be missing on the route by the Kasbahs.\nThis Ksar has been the scene of filming of many famous films such as,\n&#8220;Lawrence of Arabia in 1962&#8221;, &#8220;Jesus of Nazareth in 1977&#8221;,\n&#8220;The Jewel of the Nile in 1985&#8221;, &#8220;The Mummy in 1999&#8221; and\n&#8220;Gladiator in 2000 \u00bb. It is also the place where some scenes of \u201cGame of\nThrones\u201d took place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once the visit to the Ksar of A\u00eft Ben\nHaddou is finished, the ideal is to head south-west, specifically, to the\nCitadel of Agdz, which is located over the Dra\u00e2 valley. The spectacular oasis\nof almost 200 kilometers long connects with the city of M\u2019Hamid where, in\naddition to enjoying various Kasbahs, you can discover some Ksour, high walls\nthat hide some fortified villages inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fezluxurytours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Kasbah-Taourirt-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fezluxurytours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Kasbah-Taourirt-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.fezluxurytours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Kasbah-Taourirt-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fezluxurytours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Kasbah-Taourirt-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.fezluxurytours.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/Kasbah-Taourirt.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The next mandatory stop is in the Dades\nValley or 1000 Kasbahs Valley. There is N\u2019Kob, a city with up to 52 Kasbahs and\na beautiful palm grove. To the east is Erfoud, a place known for the abundance\nand quality of dates. Subsequently, from Tinghir, you can enjoy the Todra\nGorges that have walls that rise to 300 meters. Boulmane and his Kasbah\nTizzarouine is another that you can&#8217;t miss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The valley of the Roses, well known for the manufacture of rose water that takes place in it, is the last visit of the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs before returning to Ouarzazate.
